A lawyer and an experienced Policy Adviser, Kara is the Director, Policy & Compliance at Peripheral Blue, a legal and consulting firm that provides legal and business advisory services to clients nationally. Kara specialises in privacy and data protection law and assists clients from a range of sectors with privacy compliance measures, including developing data breach response plans, and conducting data breach assessments and privacy audits. With over a decade spent in information law, she has a strong compliance background, having held audit and investigation roles with federal and state government regulators, including the Australian Privacy Commissioner and Ombudsman SA. She has also worked as a Policy Adviser for federal and state government agencies, advising on a range of matters including identity security, housing and disability policy.
Kara has been a member of the DACSSA Board since April 2015 and brings her legal, regulatory compliance and policy advice expertise, including her experience working in disability policy within state government, to her role as Board Member and Board Secretary.
Kara is passionate about the positive role DACSSA plays in systemic and individual advocacy for people living with disability. Kara holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. She is admitted to practice as a Solicitor and Barrister in the Supreme Court of South Australia.
