SENSORY DISABILITY

This is a disability that affects the way sensory information is received and experienced by a person.

Examples of sensory disabilities include:

  • Blindness
  • Deafness
  • Sensory processing.

 

Some people are born with a sensory disability, others may acquire it in their lifetime as a result of illness, injury or ageing.

 

A person with sensory disability may:

  • Prefer using aids to assist with daily tasks
  • Require breaks to help regulate sensory input
  • Communicate in different ways
