Bernie contacted DACSSA because he wanted to share his experiences with the Disability Royal Commission. He had stories about the health system and the justice system. Some of these stories were about the way he had been treated by systems in the past.

The Advocate was able to earn Bernie’s trust. Because of this, he disclosed that he was currently experiencing abuse.

DACSSA assisted him to understand his rights and to contact helpful services to address his safety concerns. Bernie is now safe and felt heard.
