The Disability Advocacy and Complaints Service (DACSSA) provides an individual disability advocacy service targeted to the resolution of grievances and complaints.
During the 2005-06 financial year DACSSA advocates worked on around 500 grievances/complaints and provided information to around 1000 people.
The issues addressed included cases of discrimination in employment and education, unmet need for the provision of personal support, access to the built environment, transport access, and many appeals against Detention, Community Treatment and Administration Orders.
