New Equal Opportunity Act?

BY: DAVID RIGNEY

On 26 November 2008, the South Australian Government....

On 26 November 2008, the South Australian Government introduced a Bill into Parliament to update our 1984 Equal Opportunity Act.

The Equal Opportunity (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2008 (15 MB), proposes a number of changes to bring our anti-discrimination laws into line with other states and the nation.

The Bill is a proposal only.  Parliament has not yet considered or debated its provisions.  The Bill will be debated in early 2009.  Until there is agreement and changes are made law, we will not know exactly what the new Equal Opportunity Act will be.
