DACSSA Inc. is a Commonwealth funded, community based and managed, disability advocacy service.
We are providing individual advocacy to all people with disabilities, including people with psychiatric, neurological, environmentally caused, physically, sensory, intellectual, learning disabilities and those with acquired brain injuries. We are serving all people with any kind of disability and of any age in South Australia.
Friends and relatives can ask for advocacy on behalf of a person with a disability, however, our mandate is to act on the expressed wishes of the person with a disability, which may not always be the expressed wishes of family members or friends.
Disability Advocacy and Complaints Service of SA Inc. facilitates the airing and resolution of disability based grievances in a manner that supports and encourages people with a disability, their families and associates through the provision of individual advocacy regardless of:
- age
- gender
- ethnic origin
- geographical location within the State
In accordance with our funding agreement, Disability Advocacy andComplaints Service of SA Inc. will advocate with or on behalf of people with disabilities in South Australia that are covered by either the Commonwealth Disability Services Act 1986 or the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
Disability Advocacy and Complaints Service of SA Inc. will ensure that issues that need to be addressed systemically are brought to the attention of systemic advocacy organisations or are taken up by our limited Systemic Advocacy Program.
